Arizona, famed for its blistering sun and sweeping desert landscapes, is no stranger to the intense warmth that defines its character. As temperatures soar, particularly in the peak summer months, residents often find solace in the refreshing embrace of clear, cool waters. In this sun-soaked environment, a pool doesn't just offer a recreational escape, but becomes an oasis, a haven from the relentless heat. Beyond the immediate relief, pools in this arid climate elevate the value and allure of homes, merging utility with luxury, and providing residents with a personal sanctuary right in their backyards.

The Health and Lifestyle Perks of Owning a Pool Home

Owning a pool home goes beyond the aesthetic appeal, diving deep into a realm of multifaceted health and lifestyle benefits. For starters, the pool becomes a centerpiece for recreation, where family members can engage in playful splashes or indulge in leisurely swims, breaking the monotony of indoor routines. From a health perspective, swimming is a low-impact exercise that boosts cardiovascular health, improves muscle tone, and offers therapeutic relaxation. Furthermore, a pool acts as a magnet for social gatherings, providing the perfect backdrop for summer barbecues, sun-soaked brunches, or serene evening get-togethers. In essence, a pool home fosters a holistic lifestyle, promoting physical well-being while nurturing social bonds.

What to Consider When Buying Pool Homes

When contemplating the purchase of a pool home, there are crucial aspects that buyers should weigh to ensure a fulfilling and hassle-free ownership experience. Maintenance costs are paramount; pools require regular upkeep, from balancing chemical levels to cleaning, and potential homeowners must be prepared for these recurring expenses. For families, especially those with young children, safety is a significant concern. It's vital to consider features like fencing, pool covers, or alarm systems to prevent accidents and ensure a secure environment. Additionally, insurance considerations come into play; owning a pool can influence homeowners' insurance premiums due to potential liabilities. Thus, it's essential to consult with insurance agents to understand the implications fully. By addressing these considerations, buyers can enjoy the myriad benefits of a pool home with peace of mind.

Why Scottsdale Remains a Top Choice for Buyers

Interested in vacation rentals? Let me tell you about the two we owned. We sold them in 2022 because as the manager, I was getting tired of the management jobs even though we were good professionals handling the rental, repairs, etc. and we did have a professional manager.

They are still beautiful and both are owned by wonderful and experienced companies which have handled many in the past.

Both are in Scottsdale, one is just south of old town with close proximity to the ballpark where the pro teams play. The other is closer to the nightlife and shopping which is world class.

Why is it we don’t keep current on getting rid of items we no longer use?

I’ve thought of that many times lately when meeting with people who’ve been living in their homes for a number of years, especially in homes that have a lot of storage space. It’s like the freezer in the garage which is the first step on the way to the garbage. Storage space is the first step on the way to the children’s rooms, your favorite charity, the resale shop or the dump. Do note the latter is not recommended.

One lady a number of years ago was such a saver that she had 100 cans of Campbell’s Tomato Soup in her pantry along with the 19 cats. Obviously, that is extreme but all of us have too much.

How to start: Once a month, pick one room at a time and go through each ruthlessly including the drawers, cabinets, and closets. I like picking the easiest first so that a great feeling of accomplishment occurs when one is finished. Then to the second and so on. Why bother? It’s a great feeling when one is finished. In the event one decides to move, the process is much easier and if one decides to have an estate sale, there is indeed money to be made.

Speaking of estate sales, I would not recommend doing one yourself. We have excellent referrals who can price those items you consider junk and make you money for them. One recent sale for our clients had buyers paying $75.00 for bags of outdated tools which the owner was planning on giving to charity. There are also excellent resale shops we can recommend. Signing off for now. Do call me for further information, I look forward to talking with you!

Procrastination seems to be the name of the game for many people, reminiscent of an old song about a leaking window; the window: “she is broken and the rain is comin’ in and if I do not fix it, I’ll be soakin’ to my skin; but if I wait a day or two, the rain will go away and who can need a window in such a sunny day? That’s the “I’ll think about it” theory which means that nothing will happen. We all tend to procrastinate, many times to our detriment.

The best way I’ve found to take care of a malfunctioning item or items needing servicing is before the disaster occurs. That means semi-annual servicing of your HVAC system and annual of your roof if it’s not title or a similar surface and prompt attention to any other household item which does not function as was intended by the manufacturer. The older a home is, the more repair oriented one needs to be.

If you have any repair/replacement issues you need to address, I’d be happy to get you to professional vendors who will do a great job. For further information, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Why is it so difficult to really connect with people today?

For the past several years I’ve been wondering why no one gives a last name when they introduce themselves. “Hi, I’m Kathy” or “I’m William” seems to be the standard greeting. With no last name give, the person could be any Kathy in the world or any William. Personally, I like to interact with those I’m meeting and I always introduce myself with “Hi, I’m Jan Ross.” If you use a surname, you have a wonderful opportunity to start, of all things, a conversation.

The above point was brought home recently when I introduced myself to a young woman at our fitness center whom I had not previously met. Her response was “Hi, I’m Jessica.” I responded with “what’s your last name.” She gave it to me and I happened to know her father. I asked if she was attending her father’s school. She said “No, I'm going to____.” I responded, “I’ll bet he’s having a fit since they are such big rivals of his team.” In fact, without the last name given, mentioning her first name probably would have ended the conversation.

A person has much more opportunity for success in this world today because we’re able to make connections. We have those by engaging people we meet by always using our surname when introducing ourselves .

Try and see if it makes a difference in continuing the conversation!
